Great System for the Price
I got this system so I could get surround sound from my PS3. Its great considering the fact that I’m on a budget and wanted good sound. If you’re looking for deep bass, don’t buy this system. The subwoofer is great but does not perform well at really low frequencies (partially due to the fact that its not big sub). I have no issue with that though. My PS3 sounds amazing!

Impressed with the sound and features and great price!
I’m actually set on getting the Onkyo S6100 to go with my 52″ Samsung and PS3. While still saving for it, i tried at one time the Sony CT-100 which did not satisfy me since i ended up wanting the surround effects (no fault to the CT100). While browsing and reading some very good reviews with this system which also has the HDMI inputs i needed to go with my PS3, i decided to give this a try. The box was small than i expected and while unpacking the speakers i started to feel a bit skeptical if it will sound good. Set-up was easy and only took me maybe a couple hours including running the wires.(my first time to run wires and the color coded connections really helped a lot). Connected the PS3 to the receiver and then to my TV through HDMIs, fired it up, auto calibrate (which was really easy) put in the ‘300′ Bluray and went directly to the fight scenes. All i can say is WOW! (like the other reviewers here) I can hear the small cracks, rattles, arrows swishing and it felt like my ear was twitching with the great sounds i’m hearing. I can really hear sound moving around and through the room and really was very immersed in the movie. Watched a few more movies (Hulk, Crank) and played games and this system is really sounding really good. This is basically my first 5.1 system but hearing other systems (separates) from friends, i could say that with this system i could easily match those and maybe even sound better. The base and sound are very good. I don’t even have problems hearing the dialogues coming from the smallish center speaker. I only have 20×15 living room and this 5.1 system really fills the room very well and i’m starting to wonder if the 7.1 Onkyo might be an overkill now. I’m impressed that all of the great sound i hear are done without the volume really high and i’m only around 18-22 volume level. I may just as well save a couple of hundred of dollars with this system which is really good enough for my needs.

Update:
Apparently, i wasn’t too content so i returned it and got an Onkyo S6100 7.1 system, after hooking all things up that’s when i realized this Sony was a great buy. It matched or out performed the Onkyo with less the hassle. I was expecting the Onkyo to blow this thing out of the water but i was struggling to adjust, recalibrate the Onkyo to at least sound as good as the Sony. Yes the Onkyo had fuller sound but this Sony has that clear and crisp sound not to mention better sounding dialogues from that center speaker. I have to crank the Onkyo to about 40 to 50 sound level before i can hear that surround sounds. With this Sony HTIB i barely even stay on 25 volume. The Onkyo i believe would be good buy long term but for the price difference i would go back with the SS2300.

Dear God in heaven save my soul from audio-death!
This Sony HT-SS2300 sound system murdered my father and gave syphillis to my sister. I think the subwoofer may be possesed because my dog now levitates and I never taught him that trick.

Great system at a great price!
If you are looking at this system, then you are probably in the same school of thought that I was in when looking for an audio system. Ie. What should I get that has at least 5.1, has good reviews, and is a complete package (w/ HDMI 1.3, etc.) that has a lower than usual price point?

After using it for about a month, I am happy to say it’s a really good system for the money!! I have no complaints about the sound quality. It doesn’t top out and the bass does not get muffled at higher volume levels. I have a Bose 5.1 system hooked up to a Yamaha receiver at my other house and it does not seem to have the dynamic range out of the speakers that this setup has. To me, the Bose system sounds almost monotone and non-vibrant. In fact I had to get a different center channel with that system because I kept missing speech when listening to movies. This sound system does not give me that feeling. Plus, this system costs several hundred dollars less than the Bose setup. It sounds great right out of the box and it continues to impress me when I watch movies in HD.

I’m definitely a fan of the iPod dock. It works well and it’s great that you can control your iPod from the couch with the remote instead of getting up to switch songs or artist, etc.

I give the system 5/5 stars because it definitely passes my own personal sound quality test, it has the most features I have seen for the price range and it worked the first time with no problems. For those with a budget in mind, I highly recommend it!

cheap system, works ok
nice receiver, except for the fact you can’t get audio thru the HDMI connections over the system, they are pass-thru to tv only. you have to make seperate connections from your tv’s audio out or your input devices to the reciever to hear anything. I’m not an audio expert, but I don’t think you really get the full Dolby 7.1 stuff by using the lesser-capable connection methods to the audio receiver. for what it does do, it sounds good.

Onkyo – Oh My
This is a fantastic system. I am using a Samsung 37″ 1080P, XBOX, Blu Ray, and my computer on this system. I love it. Loud, crisp and does not run too hot. I bought the onkyo front speaker stands and wall mounts for the rears. This system rock. I bought the Monster wire and clips to replace the standard speaker wire for this unit and the Onkyo wireless module so I can stream Yahoo radio and iTunes to it – Amazing. I never want to leave my house again. If you are ‘considering’ this unit, GET IT! Simple set up also, the MANUAL explains everything very well.

We are interested in Flip Video MinoHD Camcorder, 60 Minutes (Black) from amazon and I read about that ,I think that wonderfull.

BuZZ from Customer Shopping

HD made simple!
This camcorder could not be any easier to use. The personalization options make this thing even cooler!

The HD Mino is light, making it easy to carry around to capture important moments. As opposed to my other camcorder, I find myself actually using the Flip.

All you have to do it flip out the USB, plug it in (works great with Mac) and you can edit away with nifty software contained on the device itself. The software is much better than the previous generation; easy to use, lots of cool features.

The battery life is decent. I find that I plug in the Flip frequently enough to download footage that it’s rarely low on batteries.

The footage looks great, even in somewhat low light, although night filming was a little more problematic. I found the sound quality crisp. Distortion caused by breezes was surprisingly minimal. You will not find better video quality for the money. The autofocus works fantastically.

My only complaint is that the screen is on the small side. I’d prefer to be able to see the benefits of the higher resolution on the device itself.

A perfect present for the holidays in my opinion.

It’s Fun
This is a fun toy, not an all purpose HD camcorder. If you want a pocket sized device that takes a decent video, and has great built-in software for easy sharing and creative projects, this is the product for you. It is very easy to use. I feel like my grandmother could master the Mino in a few minutes.

I have owned it for a few days now, and I have been playing with it almost non-stop. At work, I know at least two people who have ordered them based on playing with mine. The software allows you to share the video by sending web links, capture still shots from the video, upload to a variety of websites, burn to disks, and several other features.

Capture your friends in HD with this fast and friendly mini camcorder, best camcorder for video sharing on the web.
Flip camcorders are perfect for making fast and fun videos that can be uploaded to the web just as easily as you shoot them. This little camcorder is slim and convenient to carry at all times which makes it so much easier to capture those special (or embarrassing!!) moments. This camcorder makes it really easy to upload your videos on to your computer or the web too. You just flip out the USB 2.0 arm and plug it into your computer like a mini external drive. You can then directly upload your video to youtube, myspace or any other video-sharing website without having to transfer it to your computer. Or you can just upload it to your computer. It also comes with video cable to watch your video on a TV which can be a plus on a vacation.

Here’s what I like about this camcorder:

– Takes HD video (720p) in 16:9 ratio, picture is very sharp especially when viewed on a computer screen or LCD TV.
– Super sleek and easy to carry in a pocket or small purse. Weighs only 3.3 ounces and is 50% slimmer than the earlier Ultra series Flip Video Ultra Series Camcorder, 60-Minutes (Black). And Mino also has 4GB capacity compared to 2GB of Ultra – although both take 60 minutes of video
– Controls are super-easy, really child’s play. A simple press of the big red button records video. The +/- signs operate the digital zoom and the left/right arrows scroll through videos. Touching the trash can button deletes a video. That’s it!
– Good performance in low light – although one wishes for some sort of extra light source sometimes, this camcorder performs above average in low light
– Sound is good especially given the size. The sound syncs well with the picture too. The videos I shoot with my digital camera sometimes go out of sync but not with the flip.
– Easily charged through your computer, has a Li-ion battery as opposed to the Flip Ultra that used 2 AA batteries
– Creates MP4 video with good compression so the files are not huge, easy to load files into youtube or your computer. The upload feature seems to be faster than the previous Flip Ultra. Video uploads can be slow but Flip seems to make good time with its H.264 video and AAC sound compression which is stored as a MP4 file.
– Software drivers are on the camcorder drive so you’re good to go with any PC or MAC
– Included Flipware can be used to edit/share/organize video files. I don’t use it though, I just drag and drop the files to my computer, so easy
– The camera is smooth and sleek and self-contained which makes it fairly rugged compared to the super sensitive traditional camcorders.
–Comes with a basic soft carrying pouch although you may prefer to buy a separate case.

Here’s what I don’t like:

– Zoom is limited at 2X digital zoom. It’s great for making videos of people right in front of you but if you’re trying to record a performance from a distance prepare to be disappointed.
– Given basic controls it’s also difficult to zoom in as smoothly as my Sony MiniDV camcorder to capture people’s facial expressions without noticeable camera shake and repositioning. I find Flip is best for mostly fixed focus videos.
– Due to higher definition video, camera shake can also be more pronounced. A tripod or putting the camera on a flat surface will help minimize shake.
– Li-ion battery replacement is only available through the Flip Support as of now, the earlier Ultra series used the widely available AA batteries
– The 1.5″ screen makes it difficult to see what you’re recording at times. Since there is no tilt like traditional camcorders it is also not possible to hold the camera over your head and shoot something. Although FLIP says the screen is trans-reflective, it can be hard to see in bright sunlight.

Overall, I like this camcorder for its super sharp videos and ease of use. A high end camcorder may be nice for very special occasions but it’s not possible to carry my bigger camcorder at all times. This camcorder is easy to take everywhere and takes videos with better resolution and smaller file sizes than any digital camera with the video function. It makes it that much easier to upload and share these videos with your friends and family.

I have found myself capturing more moments on video since I started using the Flip camcorders. These moments would have never got on video if I did not have the Flip camcorder which I could pull out and turn on in a few seconds!
